Apple has released iOS 26.4.1 for iPhone and iPadOS 26.4.1 for iPad. While the official release notes are vague, a thread on Apple’s developer forums indicates that this update fixes a significant bug related to iCloud data syncing.

The Problem

Developers noticed that iPhones running iOS 26.4 would stop receiving iCloud change notifications. This impacted cloud data sync for apps that use Apple’s CloudKit framework, including Apple’s own Passwords app and many third‑party apps (e.g., Drafts).

The issue meant that changes made on one device would not automatically be delivered to other iPhones or iPads. Affected developers could only submit bug reports and wait for Apple to push a fix.

What’s Fixed

  • iCloud change notifications now work correctly again.

  • CloudKit‑based syncing is restored for both Apple and third‑party apps.

  • The bug also existed on iPadOS 26.4, but macOS Tahoe 26.4 was not affected.

How to Update

Go to Settings → General → Software Update and install iOS 26.4.1 (or iPadOS 26.4.1). If you are on the beta program, the issue has already been fixed in the latest iOS 26.5 beta.
