How to Customize Siri’s Voice in iOS 27: Pace, Expressivity, and More

Earlier this year, Apple announced that the next iteration of Siri will integrate with Google’s Gemini. During WWDC 2026, Apple gave a first look at what this will look and sound like, revealing that the next generation of Siri AI will feature deeper integration and extensive new voice customization options.
With iOS 27, users gain access to new “Pace” and “Expressivity” settings that allow you to adjust the speed and enunciation of Siri’s voice. These sliders let you customize Siri’s output to sound either more natural or more robotic, depending on your preference. These improvements also include enhanced dictation and text-to-speech transcription, aiming to reduce mispronunciations even with unorthodox punctuation.
How to Access the New Siri Voice Settings
The voice customization options are integrated into a redesigned menu, not hidden away. To access them:
-
Ensure your iPhone is updated to iOS 27.
-
Open the Settings app.
-
Scroll down and select Siri & Search.
The old voice selection menu has been replaced with a more streamlined interface. Here you can:
-
Use the dropdown menu next to “Voice” to choose a base voice.
-
Select voice varieties using the colored circles underneath.
-
Adjust the new Pace and Expressivity sliders to fine‑tune the speed and expressiveness of Siri’s responses. As you move the sliders, Siri will provide a demo so you can hear the effect before applying your changes.
Trying iOS 27 Early (Beta)
If you don’t want to wait for the official public release of iOS 27, you can sign up for the developer or public beta. However, keep in mind that beta software may contain bugs and stability issues. It’s recommended to install the beta on a secondary device and keep your primary iPhone on the stable version.
Other Siri AI Improvements in iOS 27
Beyond voice customization, iOS 27 introduces a dedicated Siri app that stores conversation history and syncs it across iCloud, along with a new Dynamic Island‑based interface. Siri AI also powers system‑wide features like “Write with Siri,” on‑screen awareness, and integration with the Camera app for tasks such as splitting bills or adding calendar events. Additionally, Apple is allowing users to assign different voices to responses from third‑party AI models (such as Gemini or Claude), making it easier to distinguish which AI is providing the answer.
