Google $135 Million Settlement: Are You Eligible for a Payment?

Google has faced allegations that mobile devices running its Android operating system transmitted data to the company without user permission. To resolve the case, Google agreed to a $135 million settlement, although it denies any wrongdoing. If you own an eligible device, you may be entitled to a portion of that money. In short, anyone who used an Android device from brands like Google, Samsung, or Motorola from late 2017 through today could qualify for part of the settlement.

To claim your share, you first need to confirm your eligibility, then file a claim through the settlement website for the case Joseph Taylor, et al. v. Google LLC. After that, you wait for a response to find out how much you might receive. If you’re unsure whether you meet the criteria, the settlement website provides full details to help you determine if you fall within the eligible timeframe.

Who Is Eligible?

According to the official court notice, you are eligible if you are a natural person living in the United States who used a device running the Android OS with an active cellular data plan at any time from November 12, 2017, through the date of final approval of the settlement. A final approval hearing is scheduled for June 23, 2026. If you have questions, you can contact the settlement administrator in Philadelphia at 1‑844‑655‑4255.

You cannot be part of the Csupo v. Google LLC case in Santa Clara County Superior Court (a similar lawsuit). That case received a verdict in July 2025 in favor of the class, resulting in a $350 million cash settlement, with final approval expected in late February 2026. Google also denied wrongdoing there but agreed to update its materials to request user consent and improve disclosures.

How Much Could You Get?

If you are eligible, you will likely receive a modest sum – probably no more than $100 – though the exact amount isn’t yet known. When you file your claim, you must select a preferred payment method. If you wish to exclude yourself from the settlement and file your own private claim, you must do so by May 29, 2026. If you do nothing, you will be considered to agree with the settlement and will lose the right to pursue your own lawsuit. May 29, 2026 is also the deadline to write to the court and object to the settlement if you disagree. You may address the court in person at the hearing on June 23, 2026, if you are available.

Keep in mind that the settlement has not yet received final court approval. Payments will only be sent if and when that approval is granted. Any appeals must be resolved first. “This process can take time,” the official notice reads. “Please be patient.” Ultimately, all you need to do is submit your information if eligible, then wait and hope the payment arrives.
