Goat Simulator 3: Junk Cannon Location – Finally, One That Doesn’t Require Digging
After the Pay-To-Look event and the Manic Mechanic grind, I needed a break. No 3,500 scraps. No hidden dirt mounds. No cryptic arrows pointing at trees. The Junk Cannon is refreshingly simple: find a giant cannon, fire it, walk to where the shot lands, pick up your reward.
But simple doesn’t mean idiot-proof. I still managed to screw it up. I fired myself out of the cannon instead of firing the cannon forward. I landed in a completely different zip code. Then I couldn’t find where the gear spawned. Here’s exactly how to do it without launching yourself into the desert.
What Is the Junk Cannon?
The Junk Cannon is a wearable gear piece that turns your goat into… a cannon. Actually, it’s a weapon. You equip it, and instead of licking or headbutting, you fire junk at NPCs. Cans, bottles, random debris. It’s ridiculous. It’s messy. It’s perfect for Goat Simulator.
More importantly, getting the Junk Cannon unlocks the ability to find junk ammo around the world – little piles of scrap that let you keep firing. Without it, the cannon is just a weird cosmetic.
The Location (Hooferdome – You’ve Been Here Before)
Open your map and go to the Baadlands region. Head to Hooferdome – the giant arena where goats cause chaos. You’ve probably been here for the Mental Mask or just to headbutt spectators.
Near the main Hooferdome area – usually to the side, not inside the arena itself – there’s a giant cannon. It’s hard to miss. We’re talking a massive, cartoonish artillery piece, pointed outward. It’s painted in bright colors (usually red or yellow) and has a fuse or a button.
Mistake I made: I went inside the Hooferdome arena first, thinking the cannon was part of an event. It’s not. The cannon is outside, near the entrance area. Look for a large metal tube on wheels. You’ll see it.
Step-by-Step: Fire the Cannon (Without Firing Yourself)
Here’s where I messed up. The game gives you two options when you interact with the giant cannon:
-
Climb in – This loads your goat into the barrel. You become the projectile. You’ll get launched across the map.
-
Operate – This fires the cannon forward without you inside.
You want Operate. Not Climb In.
Why? If you climb in, you’ll land somewhere random, often far away, and the Junk Cannon gear might spawn at the cannon’s impact point – but you won’t be there to pick it up. I launched myself, landed near a cactus, and had to walk back. The gear had spawned near the cannon’s target area, but I was too far away to see it.
So: walk up to the cannon. Look for the prompt. Choose Operate (or “Fire” – depending on your platform). The cannon will shoot a massive projectile – a ball of junk – across the landscape.
If you only see “Climb In”: Try approaching from the back or side.</span>
The cannon has two interaction points. The muzzle (front) is for climbing in. The back or side is for operating. Took me three tries to figure that out.
Follow the Shot (It’s Harder Than It Sounds)
Once you fire the cannon, watch where the projectile goes. It will arc through the air and land somewhere in the distance – usually in the desert area northeast or southeast of Hooferdome, depending on which direction the cannon is pointing.
Mistake I made: I fired the cannon, then immediately ran in the direction I thought it went. Wrong. The projectile moves fast. I lost sight of it. I spent ten minutes wandering around looking for the impact crater. Next time, I stood next to the cannon, watched the full arc, and picked a landmark (a big rock, a tree, a building) near where it landed. Much easier.
Head toward that impact spot. You’ll see a small explosion mark on the ground – a dark scorch or a small crater. Floating above or lying next to it is the Junk Cannon gear. It looks like a mini cannon attached to your goat’s back. Walk over it to collect.
What If You Can’t Find the Impact Spot?
If you lost sight of the shot, here’s a trick: the cannon always fires in the same direction relative to its position. If you haven’t moved the cannon (you can’t move it – it’s fixed), just fire it again. This time, watch carefully. Or have a friend stand near the cannon while you run out to spot. Co-op makes this trivial.
Alternative: If you accidentally climbed into the cannon and launched yourself, the gear might still spawn where the cannonball would have landed – not where you landed. So you’ll have to walk back from wherever you landed and search. I did this. It’s annoying. Just operate the cannon normally.
Why the Junk Cannon Is Worth Getting
It’s one of the most fun weapons in the game. You fire literal trash at NPCs. Cans bounce off heads. Bottles shatter. There’s a satisfying thunk sound. In co-op, you can have junk fights with your friends. Just aim away from the quest NPCs.
Also, once you have it, junk ammo starts spawning around the world – little piles of debris that refill your ammo. Look for them near trash cans and dumpsters. I found a hidden stash behind the Rad Resort that gave me infinite junk for about five minutes (probably a glitch, but fun).
Pro Tip After You Get It
Equip the Junk Cannon and go to the Hooferdome arena during an event. Fire junk at the announcer. He reacts. He’ll say something like “Who threw that?” It’s a small detail, but I laughed.
Also, the Junk Cannon pairs hilariously with the Counter Gravitational Device. Float in the air while raining garbage down on NPCs below. My co-op partner called it “trash angel mode.”
Final Verdict
The Junk Cannon is one of the easier gear pieces to get in Goat Simulator 3
No scrap farming. No digging. No cryptic viewers. Just find the giant cannon, operate it (don’t climb in), walk to the impact spot, and pick it up. Should take five minutes.
But I still managed to make it take twenty. Don’t be like me. Operate, don’t climb. Watch where the shot lands. And for the love of Pilgor, don’t launch yourself into the desert.
