How to Fix Roblox Thinking You’re on a Mobile Device

Is Roblox displaying the mobile interface on your Windows PC or laptop, locking you out of keyboard and mouse controls? This common glitch occurs when Roblox mistakenly detects your touchscreen as a primary input. Here’s how to force Roblox back into proper PC mode.

Primary Fix: Disable Windows Pen & Ink Service

This service manages touch and pen input. Disabling it often resolves the misidentification.

  1. Press Windows Key + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.

  2. Scroll to find “Windows Pen & Ink”.

  3. Double-click it, set Startup type to “Disabled”.

  4. Click Apply, then OK.

  5. Restart your computer and launch Roblox.

Secondary Fix: Disable the Touchscreen in Device Manager

Temporarily disabling the touchscreen hardware forces Roblox to use standard PC inputs.

  1. Press Windows Key + X, select Device Manager.

  2. Expand “Human Interface Devices”.

  3. Right-click on “HID-compliant touch screen” (or similar).

  4. Select “Disable device”.

  5. Launch Roblox to test. (You can re-enable this later for touch functionality.)

Important: Install the Correct Roblox Version

The Microsoft Store version of Roblox is optimized for hybrid devices and often causes this bug. You must use the standard version from the Roblox website.

  1. Uninstall Roblox via Settings > Apps > Installed apps.

  2. Go to roblox.com/download in your web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox).

  3. Download and install the Roblox Player from there.

  4. Log in; the interface should now be the correct PC version.

Why This Happens

Roblox uses system data to detect your device type. Touchscreen PCs send signals that the client can misinterpret as a tablet or phone, triggering the mobile UI. The fixes above block or remove those signals.

Quick Summary

  1. Disable the Windows Pen & Ink service.

  2. Temporarily disable the touchscreen in Device Manager.

  3. Ensure you have the browser version of Roblox, not the Microsoft Store version.

Following these steps should restore the full PC interface and controls. If the issue persists, check for Windows updates or consult Roblox support.
