Home Web Design Guide: Changing Your iPhone Charging Sound to a Champagne Cork Pop

Guide: Changing Your iPhone Charging Sound to a Champagne Cork Pop

You can customize your iPhone’s charging notification by creating an automation in the Shortcuts app that plays a custom sound, such as a champagne cork pop, when the device is connected to power. This requires no jailbreaking and works on iOS 14 or later.

Prerequisites

  • An iPhone running iOS 14 or later.

  • The built-in Shortcuts app.

  • A short champagne cork pop sound file (MP3 or WAV) saved to your iPhone’s Files app.

Step 1: Create a Charging Automation

  1. Open the Shortcuts app and select the Automation tab.

  2. Tap New Automation (+) and scroll to find Charger.

  3. Select Is Connected as the trigger and tap Next.

Step 2: Add the Custom Sound Action
You have two primary options:

Option A: Play a Downloaded Sound File

  1. Tap Add Action and search for the Run Shortcut action.

  2. You will need to have a pre-made shortcut that plays your sound file (using a Play Sound or Play Music action linked to your file in the Files app). Select that shortcut here.

  3. After adding the action, tap Next.

  4. Crucially, disable “Ask Before Running” and confirm with Don’t Ask.

  5. Tap Done.

Option B: Use Siri to Speak a Phrase

  1. Tap Add Action, search for Speak Text, and add it.

  2. Type a phrase like “Cheers!” or “Pop!”

  3. Proceed to disable “Ask Before Running” and tap Done.

Testing and Refinement
Connect your iPhone to a charger. The custom sound should play after the standard charging chime. To hear only your custom sound, enable Silent Mode on your iPhone. You can edit the automation at any time within the Shortcuts app to adjust the volume, change the sound, or modify the trigger.
