Birileri – Ama Yine De Lyrics (English translation)

[Verse 1]
Once upon a time,
the dreams you built so carefully through the day —
they vanished, one by one.
All those beautiful moments are gone.

Those hands of yours that used to hold me tight —
now they’re reaching into empty space.
Ah, of course —
you never wanted things to turn out this way.

[Pre-Chorus]
But that’s just how it happens.
Everything is temporary,
leaving a pile of sorrow behind,
slipping away every single time.

[Chorus]
But even so —
you still want to love.
You still want to be loved.
You still want to be held.

Knowing all of this,
you ask, “What does it matter to me?
Is there anything that actually lasts?”
You still want that closeness.
You always end up accepting
everything that has come and gone.

[Verse 2]
Once upon a time, from the storms you used to stir up —
what winds are left behind now?
Those carefree days you thought would never end —
they turned out to be just a short dream.
Ah, of course —
you never wanted things to turn out this way.

[Pre-Chorus]
But that’s just how it happens.
Everything is temporary,
leaving a mountain of sorrow behind,
slipping away every single time.

[Chorus]
But even so —
you still want to love.
You still want to be loved.
You still want to be held.

Knowing all of this,
you ask, “What does it matter to me?
Is there anything that actually lasts?”
You still want that intimacy.
You always end up accepting
everything that has come and gone.

[Outro]
But even so —
what does it matter to me?
But even so —
what does it matter to me?

📖 Lyrics Meaning

This song is a bittersweet meditation on the temporary nature of happiness, love, and dreams — and the human stubbornness to keep wanting connection despite knowing it will end in sorrow.

Key themes:

1. The vanishing of dreams – Once‑upon‑a‑time dreams, built carefully, disappear one by one. Beautiful moments are gone. This reflects the universal experience of loss and disillusionment.

2. Hands reaching into void – The hands that once embraced are now grasping at emptiness. Physical intimacy has been replaced by absence.

3. Temporary everything – The repeated line “Everything is temporary” is the core philosophy. Joy, love, and carefree days are fleeting, leaving behind only sorrow.

4. The paradox of wanting – Even knowing this, the speaker still wants to love, be loved, be held, and feel intimacy. Reason does not erase desire. The heart continues to reach out despite inevitable pain.

5. The rhetorical question – “What does it matter to me? Is there anything that actually lasts?” This is a defense mechanism — pretending not to care, but the very asking reveals deep caring.

6. Acceptance of what’s gone – “You always end up accepting everything that has come and gone.” There is resignation, but not bitterness. Acceptance is the final stage.

7. The brief dream – Those carefree days that seemed endless were actually “just a short dream.” This is a gentle, sad awakening to reality.
