Apple Releases iOS 26.4.2 with Critical Fix for Signal Message Notification Bug

Apple has released iOS 26.4.2 and iPadOS 26.4.2 for iPhone and iPad users. These updates include important security patches as well as unspecified bug fixes.
The security patch addresses a notable issue involving data retention in notifications. Specifically, the vulnerability allowed deleted Signal messages to be extracted from notification logs that remained on the device. This fix closes a privacy gap that had raised concerns about message deletion not fully removing notification previews.
In addition to the main iOS 26.4.2 release, Apple also provides iOS 18.7.8 and iPadOS 18.7.8 for devices that are not running iOS 26 or later. These older‑version updates include the same security fix for users on legacy operating systems.
Mac Status: No Tahoe 26.4.2 Yet
As for the Mac, the most current system software version remains macOS Tahoe 26.4.1. macOS Tahoe 26.4.2 has not yet been released, and Apple’s Security Updates page has not been updated to mention any related fixes for the Mac at this time.
